This music video is by Weezer and it is called "Beverly Hills". Weezer is an American alternative rock band that formed in Los Angeles in 1992. The image above is the actual album cover where the song "Beverly Hills" is in. The characteristics of the group and the song match as they have a main singer who in the song sings directly about himself. What makes them different to other alternative rock bands that i have herd this song once and it is lyrically catchy this is because they sing there lyrics clearly and have repeated sentences with rhyming couplets; so that the viewer wouldn't need to listen to it as much to get to know the lyrics and then the lyrics just stay in your head. There is a relationship between the lyrics and the visuals because in the lyrics they sing "Beverly Hills that were i want to be living in Beverly Hills .. rolling like a celebrity", the visuals connect to this as we see the Beverly Hills sign and have its scenery. This technique is a good way to illustrate the song as it cuts straight to the point showing what you see when singing the song. In the music video the opening is about 1 minuet of narrative where that have Hugh Hefner in the playboy mansion with his playboy girls sitting around him. He is talking on the phone to a member of the band from Weezer. This instantly appeals to the male audience as there as they have used female’s sexuality to intrigue them. The band itself has a unique image as they are not known for there looks or sexuality as they refer to themselves as "Geeks" and throughout the song the singer list's a number of aspects of himself that make him a geek and he plays on this by making the viewer feel sympathy. For example he sings "I didn't go to boarding schools. Preppy girls never looked at me. Why should they, I ain't nobody. Got nothing in my pocket". Although throughout the video we see crowds of people just sitting around listening and dancing to the song, the majority of people in the video were pretty girls and geeky boys. In one clip they ironically showed a geeky girl and it was weird how much she stood out, when thinking back to the video she was the only girl like that all the rest were in flattering clothing; so sexuality plays a huge part in this video. I wanna be just like a king. Take my picture by the pool" where they are all sitting around the pool in Hughe Heffner’s house with girls wearing minimal clothing. The way that they visuals and the music connect is because they have clips that are of the band playing their instruments on greenery, the video is like one big park party as the girls play American football, with the boys chasing after them; this is ironic as they boys are normally the ones playing American football, this could also be a metaphor to show that these boys are always chasing girls. From watching this they sort of generate a star persona from this music video as it shows them to be just singing the truth about themselves and making themselves look popular by having so many people in the video.
